You expand the mind when you start with music... ✨💫

The natty dreadlock didn't even need to speak a word of English, but I understood.

He didn't even need to flash his locks in dread, because my feet still moved on command, my neck and head falling in line too.

If this was peer pressure I would have folded, and not even to peers but to a stranger.

Sounds like mind control, sci-fi.

Nope just these drummers I stumbled across while roaming west London's Notting Hill when taken over by the spirit of carnival.

My mind stayed fortified against £10 patties and batty riders but was hypnotised by the sounds of the drum.

I looked natty dreads deep in the eyes when his hands were drumming, I can tell you he wasn't there, his mind travelled, taken over by the drums, probably ancestors using his body as a vehicle to tell their tales of old. I have no idea what he was saying, but the words spoke deep to the soul.

Musics more than sounds, its connection, language, ideologies, history, hopes, dreams, fears all realised within sounds. Before words man beat upon things to communicate. And Like Professor Bello said, for us of African Caribbean origins the drums were the foundation a marching order, maybe that's why even up to today black music is so base heavy...
