The Best of Rage Slewdem Mafia Grime Musician

For our final performance in this acoustic grime series, Rage delivers his most powerful and reflective track yet — Political Music. In this stripped-back performance, he questions the entire political system — from false promises by MPs, to the back-and-forth of Labour vs. Conservative — and asks the hard question: what’s really changing for communities like his? With Ivanmore on guitar and vocals, the song takes on another level of soul — turning political frustration into something deeply human and emotional.

In 2015, Duppy Maker (War Dub) dropped in the middle of a heated era of grime clashes — when MCs were at their sharpest, testing each other bar for bar. It was a time when the mic was a battlefield, and this track was Rage’s warning shot.

This performance holds weight. Not just musically, but culturally. In this stripped-back version of “I Was”, Rage reflects on his experiences growing up in Waltham Forest — memories shaped by the sounds, struggles, and spirit of the early 2000s. It’s raw, reflective, and rooted in lived truth.

We teamed up with Rage, from the legendary grime collective Slewdem Mafia, and the soul-singing, guitar-strumming powerhouse Ivanmore, to reinterpret one of Rage’s standout tracks, “Cammy Ridden”, in a completely new format. Expect raw lyrics, real emotion, and stripped-back acoustic instrumentation that lets the message hit even harder.

On this Sunday afternoon Top Dolla and Rage reminded us of what they do best, and why they are considered grime legends!
