Reflections on an evening while rice and peas eating!

Updated: 1 day ago

I’ve been having some deep conversations with people from all walks of life while piecing together the story of Waltham Forest in the early 2000s, as part of Red Light Busking presents Kanda Vol.1 – Bedroom Shut, Music Up.

One conversation with a former police officer really stuck with me as he reflected on how London went from quiet at night to being open 24/7, and how that shift changed how they had to police things.

It got me thinking about complexity. How a shape can start simple, but the more it repeats, the more intricate it becomes. Fractals are in all things.

When I was a teen, your phone connected you to the names in your phonebook.

My daughter, as a teen, is connected to the world—millions of views and voices, just a tap away.

Maybe the true learning from these conversations is that you'd be wise to not judge the present through the lens of the past as doing so often oversimplifies things that are deeply complex.
