About the event
Red Light Busking presents Kanda Vol.1 – Bedroom Shut, Music Up
This exhibition seeks to offer an inter-generational reflection on the lived experiences of African Caribbean descendants growing up in London’s multicultural environment where we take a focused look into the area of Waltham Forest. This exhibition aims to explore how the early 2000s marked a pivotal change for African Caribbeans, from how the music and stories created by imprisoned peers became the sounds of the time, and how implementation of systems affected the outcomes of many during this time and what, if anything, has changed.
Using innovative methods, the project will integrate immersive audio, music production, and set designs to bring to life oral histories that give perspective to growing up in Waltham Forest during the early 2000’s.
