In this stripped-back version of “I Was”, Rage reflects on his experiences growing up in Waltham Forest — memories shaped by the sounds, struggles, and spirit of the early 2000s. It’s raw, reflective, and rooted in lived truth.
⚠️ Parental Advisory – strong language and real-life themes. Nothing watered down. This is storytelling as it should be.
This session is part of a wider project:
Red Light Busking presents: Kanda Vol.1 – Bedroom Shut Music Up
An exhibition exploring the experiences of African Caribbean in Waltham Forest during the early 2000s — with a focus on music created during that era such as grime, the cultural pressures of that era, and the deeper systems that led to overrepresentation in the criminal justice system. Rage is not only performing — he’s working with us behind the scenes to shape this exhibition and tell these stories.
